“Labor Pains”: Lebanon’s Doom?

France, Australia, the US and other countries are evacuating their citizens from Lebanon. This is very troubling.
A good percentage (don’t know how much exactly) of Lebanese – including plenty of those who fueled the Cedar Revolution – have two nationalities.
I am one of those others who have only one nationality.
Yes I am a Lebanese only (soooo not iiinnnn).
Lubnani Sameem.
And for some reason, which I myself do not understand (maybe a complex from my childhood), I did not seek another nationality.
Lebanese Only & Proud, ehh wallah.
[I have a dream of some entity that transcends the current borders but that’s beside the point now.]
And it seems that majority, if not all the Lebanese displaced by the Israeli invasion are also Lebanese Only & Proud.
There are about a million of them so far.
They will not be evacuated to any other country. They will have to stay in the public schools housing them for now.
They are standing tough. They do not hate NasrAllah whose popularity is on the rise in Lebanon. Olmert, Bush and Rice will not like this.

Ms. Rice declares that we are witnessing the “labor pains” of the birth of a new Middle East. [Birth pains?! Death is produced for God’s sake! By the way, does Ms Rice have any children?]
Similar statements were made just before the total destruction of Iraq and the killing of about 250000 Iraqi not to mention continuing suffering till this day.
A similar statement was also made before endless misery struck the Palestinians.
This statement was always accompanied by the evacuation of foreign citizens.
So I am expecting very difficult times ahead now that Ms Rice is the mother who is giving birth to us.

Today Israel destroyed a factory that produces pre-fabricated houses and a wool factory.
Add this to the milk factory, the bridges, the communication facilities, the homes, the trucks carrying medicine, the children, the cultural centers, hospitals, a mosque and a church and all the international laws and conventions etc…

Ms Rice and her boss are in direct control of the war.
Mr Olmert told his cabinet that it is going to be a long war.
Israel has been crossing the border into Lebanon during the past four years and killing Lebanese.
The definition of “terrorist” for Mr. Bush & Co is: anybody who criticizes or stands up to Israel’s aggression or incursions or anybody who does not believe in Bush.

All this leads to one conclusion:
We are part of Bush’s little plan for a Greater Middle East!
We are now officially “Lebanon the model.”
We are his “rebound” after Afghanistan and Iraq.
Are we “doomed”?

<>Our Israeli neighbors are kind of tormented at the moment. So many Lebanese children to slaughter…So little time! Their fellow Saudi-Wahhabi terrorist partners in crime say Yahweh’s glorious sicaries only have a week left to do the job…Faster please!<>“Praise be to Yahweh God, the God of Israel, for he has shown us his marvelous loving kindness”<><>

Well, I am not that cynical … or let’s say sarcastic! To answer your question – NO, Condi Rice has NO children nor, to the best of my knowledge, was she ever married.I find it totally unacceptable to call the bombs which kill civilians, “labout-pain”! Not only doesn’t she have a clue about labour-pain but that’s besides the point – after labor pain there is LIFE … and after the bombs SHE Oks, DEATH! She seems to have forgotten that – someone should please put that to her attention! She has NO right to talk this way!!You can be proud of your citizenship Moussa – Lebanese people are GREAT folks!!How’s your wife doing?HANG IN THERE .. and STAY SAFE GUYS, WE’RE WITH YOU!!

Dear Urshalim,I agree that Ms. Rice’s comments are troubling and want to let you know that there are many Americans that are NOT with Bush or his crew. It kills us to know that he is “leading” our country and pains us that voter apathy prevents many impoverished and poorly treated Americans from vvoting him out of office. I personally feel that the creation of Israel was a mistake. I understand that they were seeking a refuge after the Holocaust, but The Allied Powers should have worked with Palestinians diplomatically in order to come to a win-win solution where Palestinians would not have had their land taken away and Jews could have settled somewhere near their holy lands. I am sorry that your country is now suffering as a result of Western interference.

First of all, I am so thankful to read Bashir’s words. We are all thankful for your news, because it tell us you are still alive.I agree wholeheartedly with Chuck and the lovely lady from Munich.I was married in 1981 to a Lebanese man attending college in the US. In 1982, when Israel invaded Lebanon, Ariel Sharon (and by the way, latest news indicate he’s about to die) ordered his soldiers to bomb a small village in El Koura. That bomb blew up my mother-in-law. Her name was Halloum. She was a beautiful woman who had the biggest heart. I had so longed to meet her.So, I have some small idea of what is going on.Bashir, we pray for you and everyone around and our eyes cry tears than no one else seems to understand. And it is comforting to read what Chuck and the lovely lady from Munich have to say.Bashir, please keep posting.

Chuck: I too live in the US and agree with your Statement. From the very beginning the Issue of Israel should have been approached differently ,most of all with Diplomacy which is still not present.!!!Pointing Fingers and playing the waiting game is not in the best Interest of the Lebanese People in their present situation. Labor pains? Only a childless woman could make that comparision.Sec.Rice is where political theory meets reality. This former professor is the biggest failure both as National Security Adviser and Sec. of State. Her failure to engage Lebanon ,Syria and Iran directly leaves one to wonder what exactly she’s going to the M.E for.Maybe as a cheerleader complete with pom-poms! Our prayers are with you.

Dear Bashir and Lebanon,No Ms. Rice does not have children and sadly does not have a clue about suffering. Her parents sheilded her from the civil rights era, they did not expose her to the extreme suffering of the black population. I am ashamed of her disconnect ~ I believe she should have engaged immediately and sat down with adversaries. Any decent human being can see the autrocities committed. Rice is scholarly and does not know how to deal with the suffering. We need Nelson Mandala or Deepak Chopra or even Oprah to jump in NOW!

Dear Lebanon, My heart aches with you. I lived through the 15-year civil war there and then my parents decided to go to the US, so we did and been here since. However, I am still 100% Lebanese and will always be, even if I become a US citizen. Lebanon will prevail and will survive. It did once and it will again. Hang in there and we’re with you doing everything we can to help you all with humanitarian needs. Help is on the way.

A super article, that’s right on target. It’s easy for those that don’t have family members dying to cast war off as simply “labor pains of democracy,”etc. Also, an excellent gallery on the destruction and mayhem taking place in the Israeli and Hizbulla crisis. keep on keeping on with more great analyses, comments and images. Super-Duper Job! Carlos@ http://www.somethingtosayworld.blogspot.com.
