Waiting for the UN & its Newest Resolution

Will Israel comply this time?

Meanwhile a very interesting analysis by Juan Cole, “Bush, Islamic Fascism and the Christians of Jounieh“. Contains links to video clips for Nancy Ajram and Haifa Wehbe. Following is a quote from the post:

The idea that the whole Eastern Mediterranean had to be polluted, that the Christian Lebanese economy had to be destroyed for the next decade or two, that 900,000 persons had to be rendered homeless, that a whole country had to be pounded into rubble because some Lebanese Shiites voted for Hizbullah in the last election, putting 12 in parliament, is obscene. Bush’s glib ignorance is destroying our world. Our children will suffer for it, and perhaps our grandchildren after them.

Breaking News:
After allowing civilians and police to leave the southern city of Marjioyoun, Israel is now bombing the convoy of cars carrying them out. Injuries and deaths are expected…

Add this to the massacre in Akkar (North Lebanon) this morning, 12 civilians killed, many others injured…

On the disputed Shebaa Farms border area, the draft asks U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan to draw up proposals that would demarcate Lebanon’s border with Israel and Syria.

Bashir, I hope the Lebanese come out in solidarity this morning as planned. So many people here(america) are sitting on the edge hoping they go through with it and that it has a big showing. Is it hard for people to get to martyrs square due to gas shortage? I know the power this march will hold, I am from the south in America and remember the Martin Luther King marches in my town. It was POWERFUL. Light always deminishes darkness. Let there be light in Lebanon in about 8 hours. I wish I could be there. Do not let the the Isreali invasion stop you all! Drive them out with light! My heart is with you all. The world IS watching~the world is watching and I think this will be truth for Lebanon and the Palestinians to stop this autrocity.

Quoting: “Breaking News:After allowing civilians and police to leave the southern city of Marjioyoun, Israel is now bombing the convoy of cars carrying them out. Injuries and deaths are expected…”Story now confirmed by CNN reporter on site. RoxieAmerica comments: I have been paitent, and I have given all parties in this war the benefit of the doubt. This convoy was a scheduled convoy, UN escorted. The Israeli military, if it was there weapons, and my understanding is it was their weapons, has shown a complete disregard for civilian life. Such imoral actions can not be justified by any religious text. Such imoral actions can not be justified by any government. This is a sad day for humanity.

JERUSALEM – Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has accepted an emerging Mideast cease-fire deal and informed the United States of his decision, Israeli officials said Friday.

It appears they keep making war until the Israeli cabinet meets on Sunday.

The UN passed a Israel-Hizbollah ceasefire. It does not mean the fighting will stop now. Lebanon will vote on acceptance on Saturday and Israel will vote on Sunday. It is my understand, after those two votes peace will come. It would be a delight to see BOTH sides stop sooner. It would go very much to trust. I would suggest Hizbollah make arrangement with the Lebanon military to turn over the Israel soldiers, and show the exchange on TV, saying they will ALL OFFENSIVE operations immediately, and if Israel will do the same, then the guns will go silent. This would force Israel to show if they really want peace.Just my two-cents – RoxieAmerica

Why Akkar ? Probably because these are the only people in lebanon left to bomb !Warning: Everybody in Lebanon who was not yet bombed by Israelis, expect a bomb soon !

  11. Volumes have been written about the Arab-Israeli conflict which has been ongoing for the last 60 years. The first thing that should be recognized is that the Arabs are not in a fight against the Jews. The Arabs and the Jews are both Semitic people. There has to be a firm distinction made between Jews and Zionists. Israel carefully and jealously calls itself the Jewish state, whereas it is actually a Zionist state. Many Jews don’t identify with this ideology. (Einstein for example disapproved of Zionism.)The Zionist ideology is a racist one. Israel likes to call itself a democracy. But if you look carefully at the makeup of Israeli society, it has encouraged migration of Jews from all Jewish communities from all over the world, from the extreme right to the extreme left. But they have been most careful to encourage migration from those who are mostly Zionists, whether they belong to the right wing Likud or the left wing Labour party. They have been careful to ensure that whatever government is elected it is ruled by Zionists. Israeli democracy is littered with threats to Israeli politicians to “tow the line or else” politics, enforced by American Jews sympathetic to Zionism.Zionism has a stated aim: to claim, by any means, military or otherwise, land that will fit 20+ million Jewish immigrants from all over the world, whether Zionists or otherwise. They realize that the land that they occupy now is not enough to fit all those people. Their doctrine, leading to their ideal solution of solving the problem, is to occupy the land between the Nile and the Euphrates. Their flag is the symbol of that. (The blue lines above and below the Star of David symbolize that.) Their war against Lebanon has a hidden agenda, to grab as much land as they can, and tap into Lebanon’s water resources. The dilemma now is how Israel can do that with an increasingly aware and waking Arab and international public. This is where America comes in.This American administration, although headed by President Bush, is recognized to be actually manipulated by VP Mr. Dick Chenney. Ms. Rice and Mr. Rumsfeld are also part of the neocon administration, but they have lost much of their credibility after the Iraq war which was started by “faulty” intelligence. When commentators state that this is all about oil, don’t dismiss it out of hand. It may not be “all about oil”, but oil has quite a lot to do with it. America, and by proxy, Israel, would love to have a Middle East in turmoil, while America conceives a “New Middle East”. President Bush regularly and with monotonously repetitive utterances denounces Hizballah and their “sponsors” Iran and Syria. America is now the only Superpower in the world. Who is there to denounce Israel’s expansionist policies sponsored by the USA?Make no mistake, Israel is fighting America’s war in the Middle East to induce the “birth pangs of a new Middle East”. America regularly informs us that it has no friends, it has only interests. There will come a time when America will have no use for Israel anymore.
