US Senate votes to divide Iraq

The plan that was voted for by the senate proposes to separate Iraq into Kurdish, Shiite and Sunni entities, with a federal government in Baghdad in charge of border security and oil revenues.

The conspiracy theorists we ridiculed years ago were right after all. Their theories see the light day after day. What was predicted unfolds.

You may still call it a conspiracy theory but I now call it strategic planning.
But we are not the planners ofcourse.

If the US succeeds in dividing Iraq, then Syria, Lebanon and others will be next. It is just a matter of years.

It is Sykes and Picot all over again. This time dividing the already divided.

All this division is simply to justify the Zionists claim that it is not possible to have a secular nation where people of diverse cultures or religions can be equal citizens in this part of the world.

Oh yes, pardon me, and there is always the source of energy (petroleum) and there is the water too, …

Now prove me wrong…

“…All this division is simply to justify the Zionists claim that it is not possible to have a secular nation where people of diverse cultures or religions can be equal citizens in this part of the world…”exactly, and we keep falling for that trap and fighting each other and receding back into our respective little sectarian corners.

It’s going to be hard to prove you wrong. Dividing Iraq is very worrisome. I wouldn’t want myself, as a Lebanese, to be divided from Christians and Muslims. I, personally would very much want the unity of diversity in which we very proudly show off to the world (where Christians and Muslims are outspoken of their identity, Lebanese, and proud of their diversity) – regardless of western Media speculations. How would we know what the big fuss of the Christian community in Lebanon if it weren’t for Lebanese Muslims, and vice-versa?Think of that one.

Hi Moussa,Nidal writes excellent lenghty articles and both of you have highlighted a very interesting news item that went unnoticed.I couldn’t resist translating most of Nidal’s article with many links to yours. It is on my blog now.

Moussa,You’re right about that being a primary dictate of Israel’s policy – in Lebanon and during the civil war first and foremost. My beef with the whole contention is that Hizballah, by keeping its weapons, can and will counter that policy. It seems pretty clear to me that the presence of these weapons will be the primary cause and trigger for any division that could precipitate in the country. The Iraqis have their own problems and so do the Iranians. If we want to be left alone from the regional mess which is about to go ‘atomic’ then shouldn’t we be more interested in dealing with each other with “palms open” than confronting the “Zionist plot” with clenched fist?

Jade, I did not understand. You mean open palms (ours) with each other, not with the zionists, right? If so then, sure.

Yes, with each other as Lebanese
